Slingerland No. 140 Student Model 5.5x14" Snare Drum in Red Sparkle Pearl, manufactured in Niles, Illinois during the early 1970s. Classic 3-ply maple/poplar/maple shell with solid maple reinforcement rings, six beavertail lugs, Stick Chopper hoops, Rapid Strainer throw-off, and original black-and-silver Niles badge. Don't let the "student model" title fool you. These 6 lug snare drums are prized by "in the know" drummers for their open, unchoked voice. Apart from having 6 lugs, the No. 140 utilized the same shell construction found in professional Slingerland drums of the era.
Updated snare wires and heads, otherwise, all original and in excellent condition.
