The Gold Tone OB-100 is a Mastertone-style bluegrass banjo with a rolled brass tone ring, one-piece cast flange, and mahogany construction. It is a tribute to the classic Gibson RB-100, designed with input from Greg Rich. At 8.2 lbs with a 3-ply Canadian maple tone rim, it delivers strong, focused punch while reducing weight for players who need relief.
PRE-ORDER: The first batch of the OB-100 sold out very quickly. This listing is a pre-order for the next batch, which Gold Tone expects to arrive in August or September. Reserve yours now and we will ship it as soon as it arrives. Message us here on Reverb with any questions about timing.
A simple paddle-style headstock and traditional dot inlays give the OB-100 a clean, understated look, perfect for players who appreciate classic design without flash. The tobacco burst resonator is bound on the back only, staying true to traditional roots.
THE TONE RING
The OB-100 features a 3-ply Canadian maple tone rim with a specially routed channel along the top outer edge that holds a rolled brass tone ring. This design delivers a strong, focused punch while reducing overall weight. The one-piece cast flange provides true Mastertone-style construction.
