VIDEO! Rare 1981 MIJ Cimar (Ibanez/Hoshin) 2051BK - made in Japan - pro setup, ready to play

General introduction and background:

Beautiful and very rare Cimar 2051BK. A very uniquely designed LP-style guitar. Made in 1981 (according to the date stamp on the pickups) in Japan, likely at the Chushin Gakki plant, maybe at the Fujigen plant. Cimar was another label by Hoshino Gakki, who also own the Ibanez label. Cimar instruments were sometimes similar, but then again also different in the details, offering a more affordable variant of many Ibanez designs. This guitar excels with a pair of very transparent, PAF-style pickups; likely made by Gotoh or Maxon.

As always, the instrument has been serviced completely and is ready to be played immediately. But please read the description carefully.

Measurements, weight and other specs:

-Scale:  628 mm (Gibson-style)

-Nut: ca 4,2 cm

-Weight: 4,16 kg

-Pickups: two original humbuckers, measuring at 6,97K (Bridge) and 6,86k (Neck) – despite the low readings, they deliver a transparent yet bold output. The controls are like on a Les Paul.

-Body: solid mahogany with a Judas (?) top according to the original leaflet (see pic)

-Neck:  very slim yet wide D-shape mahogany with a rosewood fingerboard. 12’’ Radius, medium jumbo frets.

Condition:

-Body: good yet clearly used condition with a couple of dings and dongs, and noticeable beltbuckle rash on the back. No structural damages.

-Neck: straight and good condition, frets have only very minor crevasses, no buzz or deadpots; some noticeable ding on the back of the neck, but no structural damages.

-Head: good condition with minor dings and dongs.

-Hardware: normal signs of aging; one of the pickup rings was reglued and also is a bit bent.

-Electrics: works

-Originality: all original

Sound and Playability:

-Playability and string action: the guitar plays super smooth and easy with a buttery neck, fretboard and fret feeling and a low string action. It delivers modern shredding comfort if you so desire.

-Sound: Please check out the video for a sound demo. The pickups have a bold, yet very transparent output, delivering a chimey humbucker sound devoid of the usual mud and thickness of many other cheapish humbuckers. It is very well suited for a broad variety of genres, even sparkly indie stuff.

As always, the instrument has been serviced completely and is ready to be played immediately.

-Completely cleaned

-Frets polished, fretboard cleaned and oiled

-Electronics cleaned and serviced

-Pro setup of string action, pickup height and intonation

-New 10 gauge all nickel Pyramid strings put on – play it in!

Auxiliary stuff:

-No case or gigbag included. The item will be wrapped well, and put into a sturdy cardboard box with lots of filler material. If you want a case, I can buy one at your cost before shipping it and then pack it into the case - just let me know.

AFTER DELIVERY: After receiving the item, please inspect the package for obvious damages and make photos if there are any. After unpacking, check the item immediately for damages or other undocumented flaws. I accept a 14 days return and will pay for shipping if the item is in a different condition than described upon arrival. Please note that I will only take the item back entirely, but not grant any reduction of price and generally only accept returns if the item was unaltered after arrival.

CITES protection: all of the items I sell have been legally imported to the EU before January 1st 2017 and are registered with the authorities in Hamburg, Germany (if applicable).
