Rare and increasingly collectible 1977 Marshall JMP Master Lead Model 2199 solid state combo amplifier.

Made in England during the late JMP era, this is one of the early Marshall solid state designs. British tone and “proto-JCM” character.

This amp is fully functional and retains its original pair of Celestion Greyback speakers:

My comments: The amp delivers classic late-70s Marshall punch with excellent articulation, strong midrange response and surprisingly dynamic feel for a solid state design. Top pedal platform. It is one of the very few good SS you can find on the market today.

Condition:

Fully functional

Original vintage condition (very good for its age). I suspect that this amp was in a recording studio, I can also tell that it has been serviced in the past by previous owner(s) (the 4 top screws have the typical tooling marks). After exam it is also certain that it was stored in a dry place for sure, no moisture, everything clean. Again, the studio recording comes to mind.

Some potentiometers (a few) have some scratchiness from lack of use/storage, common for vintage amps.

No major modifications except a common practice back in the days by sound engineers: External speaker connection system (see the picture), allowing the combo to drive additional cabinets while still using the internal 2x12 setup. This makes the amp far more versatile than most vintage solid state combos and capable of much bigger stage volume when paired with an external Marshall cabinet.

A very cool and increasingly hard-to-find vintage Marshall combo with desirable original Greybacks and matching 1977 speaker codes.
