Taylor / 2001 712
The 712 is a slightly smaller body shape within the Taylor lineup, known as the Grand Concert.
While not as large as a Dreadnought, it still possesses ample volume and presence.
The moment you rest it on your lap, the comfortable size instantly relaxes your body, and the feeling of music beginning simply by placing your fingers on it is unique to this size.
It features a classic wood combination: a cedar top and rosewood sides and back.
The warm tone of the cedar, enveloped in the deep overtones of the rosewood, projects forward without losing its definition.
When playing chords, the sound is clear, the harmonies separate beautifully, and in fingerstyle playing, each note has a rich, resonant quality. Its sound is not flashy, yet it possesses an undeniable elegance that lingers in the ear.
What makes this 712 special is that it does not have a built-in preamp.
While Taylor is strongly associated with acoustic-electric guitars in Japan, this particular model, lacking unnecessary weight and electronics, allows the entire body to vibrate lightly, resulting in a crisp, clear sound.
Its speed and transparency provide more than enough satisfaction, even without an amplifier.
[Comment from the person in charge: Mochizuki]
While Taylor is strongly associated with acoustic-electric guitars, this particular instrument does not have one.
For those who want to strum casually on a smaller guitar, this is a recommended choice, as it retains the playability that Taylor is known for.
