Arriving in the early 1990s as the successor to the landmark M1 series, the 01/WFD packages Korg’s AI² sample-based synthesis, a full 16-track sequencer and a pair of studio-grade effects processors into a single self-contained workstation built for writing, arranging and performing without external gear. Its internal PCM library covers polished pianos, punchy drums, lush pads and cinematic textures typical of the era, while Programs can be layered and split into Combinations for thick, production-ready sounds straight from the keys.
The FD version adds a built-in 3.5 inch floppy drive for storing sequences and patches, along with expanded song memory, making it especially practical as an all-in-one composing hub for live rigs and project studios. Classic Korg effects and hands-on editing give it the glossy, spacious character heard across countless 90s records.
