1976 Guild D50-NT. This guitar was built with one purpose in mind: to compete against Martin’s D-28. This must truely be the sweet spot for Guild, because this guitar is excellent. The back and sides are solid rosewood, built with a flat back and braces as opposed to the arched plywood that is common for many other Guilds.
Featuring a solid Spruce top, the grain on this is exceptional. C shaped 3-piece mahogany neck with adjustable truss rod. Sensational Ebony fingerboard with inlaid mother-of-pearl position dots. Schaller chrome plated machines. Ebony bridge. Black pick-guard. Cream binding inlaid around the body.
Tonally this is wonderful, its loud, sweet and the midrange feels perfectly balanced. Undoubtedly the age of the top has significantly impacted this over the generations. The note definition is excellent on this guitar it does truely sing with every note and chord.
Given a full professional setup, this plays great with a good medium action.
In good condition for a vintage piece of this age. This guitar has likely had a refret and has definitely had some bridge work done. Zero fretware, has had a recent fretdress, plenty of height left in the frets. Two circles on the back of the body, possibly from clamping at some point. This indicated that this guitar has possibly had a neck reset, however it has its extremly well done. Truss rod cover is non-original. Some minor nicks, dings and scratches present to the top.
This guitar has had a life, but is still playing beautifully and sounds great.
Comes with the original Guild hardshell case.
At Guitar Garage our focus is to refurbish and restore all guitars to the highest standard. Low action and playability is important to us. Our philosophy is "A guitar that plays well, sells well".
