The Danelectro 59M NOS boasts lipstick pickups in a striking Keen-Green finish and is in immaculate, unused condition. The 2014 model, the 59 M-NOS, is inspired by a recently discovered batch of 15-year-old pickups. "New-old-stock" (NOS) denotes vintage components that remain unused. While opinions vary on the NOS's impact on sound, particularly regarding tubes and transistors, the 59 M-NOS and its pickups have earned a following. Despite some purists' preference for the original wooden bridge, the updated adjustable bridges on these guitars are well-received.

Compared to a Strat or Tele, the 59 M-NOS might produce a thinner sound at the bridge position, but it excels with a sparkling clean tone ideal for wiry funk, a snappy country twang with subdued treble, and a razor-sharp edge when used with fuzz. The mid position yields clear, rich tones for clean chords, a gritty sound for overdriven slide guitar, and a sinewy effect for Indian-style runs. The neck pickup is especially warm and chime-like. Although the term "NOS" may be seen as optimistic, the guitar's excellence is unquestionable.

Nathan Daniel began making Danelectro guitars in 1954, offering an economical alternative to brands such as Gibson, Fender, and Gretsch. He likely never foresaw a Danelectro becoming a rock icon's choice, like Jimmy Page, whose 59DC is renowned for its role in Led Zeppelin classics like "Kashmir" and "In My Time Of Dying." The DC59M model replicates the 59DC with certain alterations.

Danelectro's lineup includes a 59DC replica, the DC59M, which makes the NOS variant a curious addition. It turns out that Danelectro's lipstick pickup supplier had misplaced a batch, rediscovering it 15 years later. These pickups are touted for their exceptional twang, warranting their inclusion in the Danelectro series.

The quintessential characteristics of the 59 series persist: the featherlight Masonite body, the iconic 'Coke bottle' headstock, and the dual-concentric volume and tone controls, though the DC59M NOS features modern enhancements.
