Heinrich Schatz German Parlor Guitar 1860-1890

Freshly restored beautiful late 1800s German parlor guitar typical from the Marktneukirchen region, possibly the work of Heinrich Schatz?, who created other similar elaborate MOP rosette inlays set in white mastic. The guitar has a spruce top and rosewood sides and back, ebony fretboard with MOP markers and ebony bridge and pins, bone saddle and nut. The guitar retains its ladder bracing, a new maple under saddle cleat replaces the worn out one. There is a solid patch on the side of the instrument, and all cracks have been cleated and glued/filled. The original peghead holes were wallowed and now repaired, new walnut and MOP veneer was added. There are new Golden Age reproduction tuners (the originals were missing), and the instrument is strung with new D'Addario nylon strings (steel strings are not recommended). A piezo pickup was added, and the guitar has a rich, clear tone for its size. Playable examples of fine workmanship from this era are getting exceedingly rare. It comes with a new, fitted TKL hard case.
