Sakae Celestial Unique 26" kit

A unique kit created for Mark Richardson (Skunk Anansie) by Sakae, the Japanese makers of Yamaha's high-end drums for decades. This custom colored, Bonham sized exceptional kit, is composed of a 26"x14" Almighty Maple kick drum, providing "the punch of a 22", but more low-end than a 24" (M.Richardson, MikeDolbear,com, April 2015), and 2 Celestial Series toms for the unique, round, mellow yet powerful tone that characterizes super high-end drums. The 18" Celestial floor tom, in particular, is majestically resonant! Dark nickel chrome rims and lugs add to its spectacular look.

This shells-only kit comes absolutely mint, delivered in brand new Protection Racket soft cases, with one original Sakae WLC100 tom holder.

Celestial series were Sakae's ultimate achievement, possibly a response to Yamaha PHX. Last produced in 2016, it featured Sakae’s Chamber Specific Technology (CST). CST is another innovation in the 88-year history of Sakae and is a result of decades of collaborations with some of world’s top drumming artists. Eizo Nakata, Sakae’s 3rd generation President stated, "Sakae believes that in the search for the ultimate resonance and tone, individual drums within a drum kit should not be limited to a certain ply configuration, bearing edge or even shell composition."

North American Maple and exotic African Bubinga wood are used for this hybrid drum. 2-plies of African Bubinga wood, known for its great resonance and projection, are used on the outside of the shell. By having the hardwood at the bearing edge, where the head contacts the drum, the most profound properties of the Bubinga wood are expressed. Keeping this consistent tone and level of resonance from the hardwood allows Sakae to adjust the low-end, sustain and projection for the each of the various drum sizes. This is the secret of Chamber Specific Technology.

Building on that philosophy, this ground-breaking instrument focuses on each drum and the specific treatment needed to produce the most desired sound for that size shell. With the CST process, Sakae has successfully "Pre-Eq'd" each drum so that each speaks with it's ultimate musical tone.
