Its unique ribbon design provides the smooth transient response and natural tonal balance associated with a quality ribbon microphone while extending the top end well beyond what many traditional ribbon designs offer. The active circuitry provides a healthy 14.1 mV/Pa sensitivity, making the VR2-NG well suited for quieter sources such as vocals, piano, acoustic guitar, and strings without demanding huge amounts of gain from your microphone preamp. The microphone requires standard 48V phantom power for operation. Versatility is one of the VR2-NG's biggest strengths. Its figure-8 polar pattern provides excellent rejection from the sides while capturing sound from both the front and rear, opening up plenty of options for room placement, ensemble recording, and creative microphone techniques. With a maximum SPL of 135 dB, it is equally comfortable in front of loud guitar cabinets, drums, brass, and other high-output sources.
