The ION iDM02 is a standalone stereo drum machine built around a 24-bit sound engine, offering over 230 high-fidelity drum and percussion sounds alongside a library of preset rhythm patterns. It features both Perform and Compose modes, allowing users to play live or program patterns for playback. Connectivity is a strong suit: the unit provides MIDI IN and OUT ports for integration with external gear, 11 external trigger inputs (1/8" jacks, with inputs 1-9 accepting piezo pad signals) for driving or being driven by electronic drum pads, and headphone/line outputs. The iDM02 is closely related to the Alesis SR-16, sharing its architecture and making it equally capable as a standalone rhythm source or as a trigger and MIDI hub for drum expander modules.
