The Loop-Master Pedals Kinotone Ribbons Remote Touch Footswitch is designed to give you external foot control of the Ribbons TOUCH function through its CV / EXP input.

This is especially useful if your Ribbons is mounted toward the back of your pedalboard, on a desktop, or anywhere else that makes the pedal's onboard TOUCH footswitch difficult to reach.

WHY USE IT?

The TOUCH footswitch is one of the most powerful performance controls on Ribbons.

Depending on the selected Touch Mode, TOUCH can be used for creative real-time effects including:

• Magnetic Dance

• Tape Stop

• Broken Machine

• Repeater

• Crushed Cassette

• Disintegration Loop

• UnrealPlayer

Instead of reaching for the Ribbons itself, this controller lets you activate the mapped TOUCH function from a dedicated external footswitch.

GREAT FOR MOMENTARY TOUCH EFFECTS

Some of the most interesting Ribbons effects become extremely expressive when used momentarily.

For example, with Tape Stop you can hold TOUCH to slow and drop the pitch of your audio, then release it to bring the audio back up.

Other Touch Modes can provide similarly creative hold-and-release performance effects.

Putting that control on a dedicated external footswitch makes Ribbons much easier to use as a live performance tool.

HOW IT WORKS

Ribbons allows its TOUCH footswitch function to be mapped to the CV / EXP input.

The Ribbons CV / EXP input operates over a 0–5V control range.

When TOUCH is mapped to CV / EXP:

• Above approximately 2.5V = TOUCH engaged

• Below approximately 2.5V = TOUCH disengaged

This Loop-Master Pedals controller uses the voltage already provided through the Ribbons CV / EXP connection to remotely control that function.

No battery or separate power supply is required for the remote footswitch.

SETTING UP RIBBONS

The TOUCH function must first be mapped to the Ribbons CV / EXP input.

Using the Ribbons CV / EXP Mapping Menu, select the Touch Footswitch mapping and save the configuration.

Once configured, the external controller can remotely engage and disengage TOUCH through the CV / EXP input.

Refer to the current Kinotone Ribbons manual for the CV / EXP mapping procedure for your firmware version.

PEDALBOARD USE

This controller is particularly useful when:

• Ribbons is mounted on the back row of your pedalboard

• You want Ribbons close enough to adjust its knobs by hand

• You don't want to reach over other pedals to hit TOUCH

• Ribbons is used as a tabletop processor

• You want a dedicated TOUCH switch in your main performance area

You can put Ribbons wherever it makes sense for your rig while keeping its performance control right under your foot.

IMPORTANT

This is NOT a conventional normally-open or normally-closed contact-closure aux switch.

It is specifically designed to work with the Kinotone Ribbons CV / EXP connection and its TOUCH mapping function.

Do not assume compatibility with other expression, CV or external footswitch inputs simply because they use a TRS jack.
