In 1975 Bob Taylor was a twenty-year-old with a small shop in San Diego and an idea about what a dreadnought acoustic guitar could be. The Legacy 810e is Taylor's tribute to that moment — a guitar built to honor the spirit and specs of the original 800 Series dreadnought while incorporating the refinements fifty years of building have taught them. The traditional X-bracing, solid Sitka spruce top, and solid Indian rosewood back and sides are exactly the combination that defined Taylor's original voice, and on a full slope-shoulder dreadnought body this guitar produces the kind of big, warm, commanding sound that the format was designed for. Where the modern 800 Series has evolved toward refinement and balance, the Legacy 810e leans into projection, volume, and drive — a guitar that can hold its own at a bluegrass jam, fill a club without amplification, and reward aggressive flatpicking with the kind of powerful response that not every Taylor can deliver. The rosewood back and sides bring warmth, complexity, and harmonic richness that makes the low end authoritative and the trebles shimmer without going bright. The neo-tropical mahogany neck with standard carve profile is comfortable and fast, the West African Crelicam ebony fingerboard with large diamond mother-of-pearl inlays and green abalone rosette recall the original 800 Series aesthetic faithfully, and the L.R. Baggs Element VTC electronics translate the guitar's natural voice to stage and studio with transparency and honesty. White binding, faux-tortoiseshell pickguard, ebony bridge with green abalone dot pins, nickel Taylor tuners, and the specially designed Legacy interior label complete an instrument that is as historically grounded as any Taylor has ever been.
This one is in nearly new condition — minimal fret wear in the first position is the entire story. It plays and sounds exactly the way a great slope-shoulder dreadnought should — huge, warm, and versatile, one of the few Taylors that would be genuinely at home at a bluegrass jam.
