The RE-201 has earned its reputation for a reason. Real tape gives the repeats a warmth, movement, and depth that is difficult to reproduce with a digital pedal or plug-in. The echoes have a wonderfully organic character, while the built-in spring reverb adds a spacious, unmistakably vintage texture.

With three playback heads and a 12-position Mode Selector, the RE-201 offers a wide variety of echo and reverb combinations. It can cover everything from short slapback and warm rhythmic repeats to deep atmospheric echoes, dub-style effects, and expressive self-oscillation.

This particular unit is an early example from May 1977. It has been fully serviced in Japan and carefully tested for proper operation.

One of the things that makes an original Space Echo so special is that the repeats never feel completely static. The subtle movement of the tape gives the sound a natural sense of life and depth, and the interaction between the Repeat Rate and Intensity controls makes the RE-201 feel almost like an instrument in itself.

A wonderful piece of vintage Roland gear for guitar, keyboards, synthesizers, studio use, dub production, or anyone looking for the character of a genuine analog tape echo rather than an emulation.
