Vintage 1960's Shure 415 / 425 / 430 controlled magnetic microphone w accessories High Z harp mic # 6

  You are looking at a unique Shure Brother's 430 model "Commando" Controlled Magnetic microphone based on the less common 425 model. This microphone manufactured during the 1960's & 70's when America was knee deep in Vietnam. The aggressive mic was supposed to be excellent at withstanding conditions that were not generally ideal such as heat and humidity and was a great general purposes microphone. Mic comes with the short cable, mic pouch and mic clip shown.

 Pic # 2 is from an old 1968 catalog showing this mics basic specs and price. The microphone actually utilizes a controlled magnetic element which had a dirty, muddy tone that harp players love to use with a harmonica. These are great for a darker old school tone for vocals while singing. It will really come alive when cupped in the hand and has blistering overdrive.

 The 430 mic was originally intended to be a general purpose mic that was rugged and these generally hold up well with age so some of these out there are not so healthy today. This example has defied the odds and works like new. The output is extremely strong. This was very well taken care of over the decades. These are great for a HAM radio set up as well. and will get the job and if you play the harmonica. 

 These mics are ultra lite weight as well making them easy to hold though it comes with it's original mic clip.

 Physically speaking this mic is in very nice condition having a satin chrome handle and plastic green cartridge. The cartridge shows a bit of wear in the form of a few scratches and scuff marks though the Shure logo looks excellent. The front screen is free of any dents, odors or tarnish and the mic is solid. No fractures. I'd rate the cosmetic condition a true 8 on a scale of 1 - 10 though many would rate higher.

 As you can see the mic has an original 6 inch cable that was shortened. It's still soft and pliable. No cracks or dry rot. It has a quality Switchcraft male XLR end connector. This way you can just leave the short cable on the mic and use any longer XLR cable of choice as an extension to your audio equipment giving you several options.

 There is an all metal early Shure A-25 model mic clip that works great for this mic having a firm grip on the handle and it has a wide degree of tilt up and down. It will screw onto any desk or floor stand you have as well. The clip shows a bit of paint loss but works perfectly.

 The older Shure black vinyl mic pouch is also included and a great place to store the contents when not in use. It's in excellent condition and the zipper works great.

         This 430 is ready to go.
