The Sony MU-R201 is a legendary 1U rackmount stereo digital reverberator released in 1986. Known as a "sleeper" hit in the Western world but a staple in classic Japanese recording studios, it was famously championed by legendary engineer Roger Nichols, who used it on his iconic Steely Dan mixes. It stands out for being one of Sony's earliest true stereo-in/stereo-out digital processors, utilizing a proprietary CXD1079 LSI chip to generate a massive, smooth stereo spread that remains difficult to replicate with modern plugins.
