Top of the tree Gibson Les Paul Standard 1959 Reissue. It doesn't get much better than this one, unless you have 500k for an original. We've been lucky enough to play a few late 50s Les Pauls in store including the infamous 1960 'Candy' burst, and I can assure you that the Murphy Labs and Collectors Choice series are the only models that replicate the feel and sound of the originals. They even get the neck shape correct, and it's not a huge baseball bat, more a perfect small C shape. This one comes with everything. An incredible Les Paul 5 stars!!
The Gibson Custom Shop Murphy Lab 1959 Les Paul Standard Ultra Heavy Aged is a top-tier replica. It mimics a heavily played 1959 golden-era Les Paul. It costs roughly $14,000 to $22,000 AUD and features extensive artificial aging, unpotted Custombucker pickups, and authentic hide-glue construction.
Key Specifications Body: One-piece lightweight mahogany with a hand-selected, figured two-piece maple top. Neck: Authentic '59 Medium C-shape mahogany neck with an Indian rosewood fingerboard. Pickups: Unpotted Custombucker Alnico III humbuckers for vintage PAF tone. Finish & Aging: Murphy Lab Ultra Heavy Aged nitrocellulose lacquer and heavily worn hardware simulating decades of aggressive touring and sweat wear.
