The P-prefix serial number dates this guitar to approximately 1999-2002.

There is something very distinctive about these Japanese-built Jaguars. The compact 24" short scale gives the guitar an immediately comfortable feel, while the offset alder body, rosewood fingerboard, floating tremolo, and traditional Jaguar switching system give it all of the character that makes this model so much fun to play.

The two Jaguar single-coil pickups have that unmistakable bright, dry and percussive response. Clean tones have plenty of definition and snap, while the lead circuit works especially well for surf, indie, alternative, garage and more aggressive rhythm playing.

Switching to the separate rhythm circuit brings out a darker and warmer side of the neck pickup, which is one of the things that makes a Jaguar much more versatile than it may first appear.

The short scale also gives the strings a slightly softer feel under the fingers compared with a Stratocaster or Telecaster. Combined with the floating tremolo, it has a playing feel and response that is completely its own.

These late-'90s / early-2000s Crafted in Japan Fender offsets have become increasingly appreciated, and it is easy to understand why. The construction feels solid, the neck is comfortable, and the guitar retains the quirky personality that made the original Jaguar such an enduring design.
