"The depth stays the same, the outline gets even sharper."
Bach 180, as expressed through a 37 gold brass bell with a steel wire bead.
[Overview]
Vincent Bach Bb trumpet. One-piece gold brass 37, steel-wire-bead bell. 25 leadpipe. ML bore. 1st slide with auto trigger (T). 3rd slide with water key. Lacquer finish. Instrument weight 1,134g. Made in 1996. Accessories: genuine single hard case. New price 620,400 yen.
[Condition]
Lacquer wear on the valve casings, hooks, levers, lower leadpipe, and the inside of the bell body. Small dents at the rear of the bell and on the bell flare have been repaired. Clearances on each slide and piston seal are in good condition with no impact on normal playing. Bore cleaned, felts replaced (*), inspected and serviced throughout.
*For the piston inner felts, we use press felts we order specifically for Bach trumpets, for stable alignment and durability, and we fine-tune the felt thickness fitted to each individual instrument.
[Features]
The 180 series, Vincent Bach's standard Bb trumpet line. This particular example pairs the classic 37 bell, made in gold brass, with a steel wire bead around the bell rim - made in 1996. Even with the standard 25 leadpipe / ML bore configuration, the bell spec gives it a character all its own.
The appeal of a gold brass 37 bell is a cohesive resonance with more thickness and depth than standard yellow brass. Meanwhile, the steel wire bead increases the rigidity at the bell rim, keeping the attack sharply defined. You get a weighty tone without the articulation ever blurring - a clear response that feels like the resolution has been turned up a notch or two.
This instrument also has a lacquer finish rather than silver plating, adding the light, quick response lacquer is known for - striking a wonderful balance between the rich resonance of gold brass and the speed and clarity that comes with it. For a player who wants to play deep and rich while keeping articulation crisp and clear, this combination has real appeal.
This lacquered gold-brass-37-bell spec is now out of production. This particular example combines the core and presence of Bach's classic 37 bell with the depth of gold brass, the clarity of the steel wire bead, and the light, responsive feel of lacquer.
