Hello and welcome to The House of Chrome.
You are looking at a very unique older Turner 95 model dynamic microphone from the 1950's that comes with a short vintage XLR cable adapter shown in which to operate. I rarely get one of these in these days that still works like new but this beauty has defied the odds.
Pic # 2 shows this microphone and it's basic characteristics from an old Turner advertisement I have. This was a smaller, affordable "general purpose mic" meant to be used for paging and dispatch situations where a reliable mic was needed but not so expensive like some of the cardioid mics being sold at that time. Microphones in the 1950's were extremely expensive. This 95 was easy on the pocket book and a good choice for basic uses. The mic itself is 8 inches long but very light weight making it very easy to hold for prolonged periods of time.
It should be noted that this mic has a great working original omni-directional element. This makes an excellent harp mic due to easy to hold and cup as well as the high pitched tone that is void of bass. These mics have a very dirty, muddy tone when cupped in the hand.
These dynamic version were more reliable and held up better than the crystal elements. The signal strength really comes alive when cupped in the hand however so this would be an ideal harp mic for use with a harmonica.
The 95 series came in two different styles over the years with the only cosmetic changes coming in the lower half that carried the Turner badge and the type of element used. The 95 microphone either had the crystal element or the Dynamic element. This 95 series also came in the S95D. The "S" model had the on / off switch making it a bit more expensive that the regular model.
As seen in the pictures provided this mic has a satin chrome finish and it's in excellent cosmetic shape. Just one tiny dent in the front grill but otherwise the mic is exceptional being free of scratches, fractures or pitting. 100% complete with nothing loose or rattling and the joint mechanism is firm and works excellent. The threading for a stand and cable is perfect. This mic will screw onto any desk or floor stand. The mic takes an older screw on Amphenol type cable to operate which is not included but a Switchcraft 339A adapter is and it allows you to use any standard XLR cable on this mic.
The beautiful 1970's era Switchcraft 339A cable adapter screws right onto the mic like the cable would. The Amphenol 75-MC1S-385 on the microphone allows you to attach this adapter then any standard XLR cable you have will snap right into place making it a very practical set up. Much better than the stock cable this mic original came with. You'll never have to worry about misplacing the older cable.
The adapter is an all metal design with a nice satin chrome finish and shows zero wear.
MICROPHONE STAND SHOWN IS NOT PART OF THIS SALE...USED FOR DISPLAY PURPOSES ONLY.
