Hello and welcome to the House of Chrome.

You are looking at a newer 2nd generation E.V PL-80C model dynamic super cardioid microphone based on the older slightly obscure 1970's / 80's era Electro Voice model PL-80 model dynamic super cardioid microphone. This newer edition comes with a nice E.V mic clip, new exterior pop filter, cable in which to operate and a metal case in which to store. This is a very nice combo package that will do you justice if you sing or broadcast.

Electro Voice built and sold the PL-80 series for almost 40 years but was recently discontinued and is a very high quality build with exception sound characteristics.

Pic # 2 shows this very model in a 1980's E.V catalog I have showing the mics basic specs. I don't have a newer spec sheet on the PL-80C but I would have to assume it's almost identical to the earlier PL-80 model. Both the PL-80 & PL-80C are an all metal, lite weight design being a bit larger in size but also very easy to hold for prolonged periods of time. They also have the pastel lite beige painted paint scheme to cut down on light glare which was a problem with chrome plated mics back in the day. There are very subtle variances in the over design of both. From a few feet away they look virtually identical.

This mic has a beautiful smooth tone with a bit of warmth & bass. Very much a studio mic. I know that PL stands for "Professional Line" but otherwise, I'm a bit clueless about the history of these. This will make a very nice gift for yourself or a friend who needs a quality mic to sing or broadcast with.

If you happen to buy an older 1st gen E.V PL80 from the 1080's or 90's make sure it has been properly gone over as that particular models comes with a variety of issues that need to be addressed from age. Trust me.

The PL-80 series has a very unique and more aggressive stick mic design as you can see in the pics provided. The PL-80C is appx 7 1/2 inches long X 2 1/14 inches wide at the tip. The E.V PL-80 is also set at low impedance with a very strong signal as well so you really don't need any gain on this model and it's a "super cardioid" model so it picks up much less background noise. Really ideal if you're singing on stage while performing with a band.

As seen in the pics provided the painted body shows extremely lite signs of wear. It could pass for brand new. Zero dents, fractures or corrosion. The E.V label is in very nice condition and completely legible. The front screens are very nice with no dents, odors or tarnish. The original inner pop filter was is original and in perfect condition. I'd rate the true cosmetic condition a 9 + on a scale of 1 - 10.

The microphone takes a standard XLR cable which is included. The cable comes with with male and female XLR connectors. The cable is appx 20 feet in length giving you a lot of room to work with. The cable is soft, pliable and in perfect physical and operating condition.

The E.V 300 model mic clip is included and works very well with this PL-80C giving a good firm hold. You can hang this mic upside down from a boom arm with complete confidence that it won't slide out and fall. Mic clip shows extremely lite cosmetic wear and it works perfectly. It will screw onto any desk or floor stand you have. These clips alone are a $50.00 item. It adds real value to the mic.

The new black exterior foam pop filter from Auray fits the mic like a glove and looks great on it. You'll notice that it really cleans up the mics sound overall. You don't need it for every situation but you'll probably appreciate having it and what it does. I personally like the tone of the mic much more with the exterior pop filter.

There is the beautiful vintage metal case in which to store your items. The case has a practical carrying handle and locking mechanism. It has the original mustard yellow paint paint scheme. I added two new foam inner pads to keep the mic safe and snug. It's a very rugged design and compliments the mic nicely. Plenty of room inside for everything. The case shows almost no wear on the paint. Zero dents or corrosion. It's a great accessory to have to keep these items safe from damage.

You got everything you need to go live. If you want something a little different with a lot of character and excellent performance...this PL-80C will do the trick.
