This is a set of 1970s three ply maple shells in beautiful and rare Thermogloss finish. All were orphans that I collected over a period of time and pieced together to make an absolutely wonderful sounding set. I call them a hybrid set simply because they are a combination of Ludwig and Slingerland Drums. There is just something special about these old three ply shells, and in Thermogloss no less.
9x13 Tom: mounting holes have been plugged and is missing the internal tone control. Lug gaskets have been added. Some lug bolts are non-original. Does feature the original stick saver hoops.
16x16 Floor Tom: Shell is in excellent condition with a few blemishes. It features an “M” stamp on the inside of the shell which suggests that it is a Slingy. It has all Ludwig hardware, but no badge. Includes Floor Tom legs.
14x24 Bass Drum: overall the finish is excellent with a few dings here and there. Heads spin freely and there are no extra holes. The badge has minor corner lifting with a new grommet.
The 13 and 16 are slightly darker in color than the 24, but they blend very well together. I’ve been told that finding a 16 and a 24 in this finish is almost next to impossible. Ultimately this set is for a player who appreciates how good these vintage shells sound.
