Up for sale is this vintage Fender Stratocaster in a nice black finish. The guitar was built in the USA in 1994 at the very reputable Fender factory in Corona, CA. This guitar should have been made in Mexico at the Ensenada plant, however, there was a fire in early 1994 that prevented the factory from completing its order quotas. Operations and salvageable parts were transferred to the Fender Corona factory in an attempt to complete the remaining orders while the Ensenada plant was rebuilt.

This guitar was purchased from the former Senior Vice President of Guitar Center who showed correspondence from Fender proving the story. I have attached a copy of the correspondence between Fender and Guitar Center for reference (see photos). Please note that the correspondence is for reference only and is not included in the sale. The guitar can be differentiated by the absence of the "Made in Mexico" decal that would have typically been next to the serial number on the headstock. At the time, Fender's record keeping was not as thorough and the correspondence outlines that they do not know how many of these guitars were made in this fashion.

The previous owner purchased this guitar and kept it tucked away in a case for all these years. It was just brought out on occasion for show. It is in great condition--there's just some slight wear from being handled as well as slight aging on some of the metal parts, pickup covers, switch tip, and knobs. In addition, there is a bit of "ghosting" on the back of the neck near the top of the "skunk stripe" (truss rod insert). This is pretty common due to the fact that different species of wood will shrink/expand at different rates with season changes causing the finish to lift. It can easily be touched up if desired but I would personally let it be. It has recently been setup and plays and sounds great! This 30 year old closet queen is ready to be played!

Please feel free to ask any questions or make an offer! Comes with a new deluxe padded gig bag as shown.
