Martin 0-17 Tiple made in Nazareth, PA in 1936. Serial number 62143. The instrument came out of Northern California where the owner told me the instrument had belonged to his Uncle who was in WWII and purchased it in Hawaii. The instrument is in excellent condition and has not had any cracks, breaks or repairs. There is a little bit of play-wear on the original bar frets in the first and second position. The Brazilian Rosewood fingerboard is in nice condition as is the Brazilian Rosewood Bridge. The mahogany body is also in beautiful condition. An overall very nice specimen.
The action is where it should be at 2.5 mm on the base side at the 12th fret and 2mm on the treble side. The purchase includes the original purple lined hard shell case. It is really hard to see who was the manufacturer of the case but there is an insignia on the back with a wolf figure in the middle. The letters are hard to read. The handle has been taped and could be replaced or otherwise. There is a faint smell of tobacco and maybe a little perfume.
