Overview

In 1983, Gibson switched from the E2 to what would become the dominant Explorer design of the '80s, showing up on the Explorer III, Designer Explorer, and the 425. The original Explorer design would still trickle out of the Gibson factory from time to time, but Gibson didn't officially return to that design until the Explorer '76 in 1990.
