Up for sale is this vintage 1976 Gibson F5 mandolin. This mandolin looks
great and plays great too. It has just been set up by our tech and
restrung. This mandolin is in very nice cosmetic condition for it's age
and appears to be all original, with the exception of the pickguard. The
mandolin is very beautiful and sports a very nice, original sunburst
finish. We can find no cracks or breaks in the wood, but there is some
finish checking on the body and around the binding which can be seen in
the pictures, but nothing major at all. The pickguard is an aftermarket
replacement and whoever put it on added a small piece of wood and a
screw into the neck to hold it on (see picture #7). There is some finish
wear on the back of the neck, but no abuse, just honest playwear. The
mandolin may have had a neckset at some point, but we can not be 100%
certain. Overall, this is a beautiful example of a hard to find vintage
F5 mandolin. There aren't very many vintage F5's out there! The original
hardcase is included, along with a vintage strap. The hardcase is in
very nice condition and only shows minor wear, but the handle has been
replaced. Don't miss out, this one will not last very long!
