This 2014 Gibson Collector’s Choice #30 'Gabby' 1959 Les Paul is part of Gibson’s highly regarded Collector’s Choice series, built as an exacting recreation of an original 1959 Les Paul known as “Gabby.” It’s a model that leans heavily into vintage accuracy, with a solid mahogany body, figured maple top, and all the hallmarks of a great late ‘50s Les Paul.
Tonally, it delivers everything you’d hope for from a guitar of this calibre. The Custombucker pickups provide a warm, open voice with plenty of clarity and detail, responding beautifully to your touch and cleaning up effortlessly when you back things off. It has that familiar depth and richness, but with a really lively, articulate edge.
The neck is based on the original “Gabby,” offering a comfortable ‘59 style carve that feels full without being cumbersome. It sits nicely in the hand and adds to the overall sense that this is a well-balanced, easy guitar to play.
Finished in Heritage Cherry Sunburst, it keeps things classic and understated, letting the top and overall build quality do the talking. A great example from the Collector’s Choice range, this is a seriously well rounded Les Paul with both player appeal and collector interest.
