The idea here is a faithful '59 Stratocaster recreation finished NOS: no artificial aging, just a thin flash-coat nitro lacquer that lets the wood breathe and will develop its own character over time.1959 is a meaningful year for Strat nerds — it's when rosewood boards and the 3-Color Sunburst finish first appeared. This one has both, along with a few details that make it stand out from the usual vintage-spec crowd: a 7.25"–9.5" compound radius (taken from rare original examples from the period), medium vintage frets that are just slightly larger than true vintage for a more comfortable feel, and Custom Shop hand-wound '59 single-coil pickups that are voiced to be full without being muddy.The Chocolate 3-Color Sunburst is a rich, deep finish — darker and more complex than a standard 3-tone.
