We here at Reverb were stoked to welcome Nita Strauss to the studio recently to show off her new Ibanez signature model—the Nita Strauss Signature JIVA10—and teach us a couple of guitar lessons. What's particularly exciting about Strauss' signature model is that it marks the first Ibanez has made with a female guitarist. "In January of 2018—this is my favorite sentence ever—I became the first ever female Ibanez signature artist, and this is my signature guitar: the Ibanez JIVA."
Extremely well-balanced—skip to a minute and 11 seconds to see Nina balance the whole instrument just on the flat of her palm—the JIVA10 features a mahogany body, with a quilted maple top in the "Deep Space Blonde" finish and an ebony fretboard. And coming in at just under seven pounds, it's also super light and great for heavily gigging players. The JIVA10 is outfitted with Strauss' own signature pickups—DiMarzio Pandemoniums—named for the song she teaches in the video below.
After talking with us about her signature model, Strauss wanted to put it to use to show off what it can do, and what better way to showcase its prowess than in a guitar lesson? In the video above, Strauss demonstrates how to play the fun, hammer-on/pull-off chorus riff from her tune "Pandemonium."
Be sure to watch both videos above, and click here to get your own Ibanez JIVA10 signature right here on Reverb. Nita Strauss' new record, Controlled Chaos, is available now.
