Song Stories: Brian Fallon's "Smoke"

Music runs in Brian Fallon's blood. His mother played the guitar in a folk band in the 1960s called "The Group Folk Singers," and Brian inherited the bug. In fact, her love of Martin guitars is what inspired Brian to pick up his own. He has been involved in music since his childhood and released his first cassette when he was just 17.

While Brian is best known for being the lead singer, songwriter and guitarist for The Gaslight Anthem, he's steadily breaking into the Americana genre with his solo work. Painkillers, his debut solo album, was released this past March through Island Records.

We were able to sit down with Brian to talk about the inspiration that fuels his songwriting process, his future in music, and the unabashed way he chooses gear – look at what the pros are using and follow suit.
