Moogfest—the annual conference and celebration of all things synth and synth culture—is coming back to Durham, North Carolina in April. As in years past, its eponymous synth manufacturer will be hosting a series of engineering workshops amid a packed schedule of panels, performances, and other happenings.
In these workshops, participants work with Moog engineers to construct synths they then get to take home. Each year Moog uses these sessions as an opportunity to unveil a new model, which have included 2018's Subharmonicon and 2017's Drummer From Another Mother, which later found its way to a full production release.
For this year, Moog seems to be venturing into the world of Vocoders, revealing in a teaser video this week the first glimpse at a new model, complete with a microphone and a series of faders.
The yet-to-be-named model uses a similar enclosure to the aforementioned workshop models as well as the popular Mother-32 semi-modular synth. Watch the video above for Moog's preview of this new model and stay tuned for more updates from Moog and Moogfest.
