Keeley added to its Artist Series line of signature pedals yesterday, unveiling a special-edition fuzz pedal, the Monterey, from musician Celisse Henderson.
Celisse has performed on Broadway productions such as Godspell and Wicked and for television like 30 Rock and Rescue Me. She's a member of Ghosts of the Forest with Trey Anastasiso, has supported artists ranging from Lizzo to Jon Batiste, and has played alongside legends like Mariah Carey and Melissa Etheridge.
As for the Monterey, Keeley describes it as "a surrealistic envelope of neo-vintage effects" that "combines classic sounds with new interpretations to create a modern timbre and audio spectrum for guitarists." Those aforementioned effects include a vintage fuzz, rotary speaker, vibe, harmonic and auto wah, octave up/octave down, as well as an expression control.
The pedal itself has two channels, which can be configured to give you five different sounds. The fuzz channel provides rich, smooth, and full two-transistor fuzz tone courtesy of vintage Fairchild Semiconductor transistors. The modulation channel adds tons of character and color, offering an octave effect with both vibe and wah sounds.
This Celisse Artist Series Edition pedal features an illustration by Lia Sued C that was recreated on each pedal using Keeley's UV printers over a deep purple sparkle powder coated case. You can check out the video above to see it for yourself and hear Celisse demo what it can do.
The initial run of this pedals is limited to 50 units, so keep your eyes peeled if you want to pick one up. They will be priced at $299 USD and start shipping on April 12.
