Canadian boutique pedal brand Demedash Effects first released the unique T-120 Tape Delay back in 2019, and the response was overwhelmingly positive. Back in June of this year, the company launched a version two of the T-120 exclusively on Reverb, and it sold out almost immediately. Today, any players that missed out on the first batches of the T-120 standard V2 and deluxe editions can now pick one up on Reverb for a limited time.
The T-120 Videotape Echo promises players delay trails that emulate the nostalgic sounds of a neglected VHS tape. Control-wise, the pedal features standard depth and speed modulation controls, an echo knob for setting the volume of the repeated signal, an intensity knob for setting the number of repeats, and a tape quality knob that controls the bandwidth of the repeats. The tape quality knob operates by determining how much filtering is applied to your repeats, so higher settings equal a wider frequency range and lower settings degrade the repeats with each turn.
The V2 version of the standard T-120 maintains the heart of the original but adds a few excellent extra modulation features like randomize, which allows you to disrupt your normal, rhythmic modulation pattern with a bit of creative sonic uncertainty. Also new is a glide setting, which either lets you smooth the edges of your waveforms or sharpen them into square waves that quickly jump pitches. As with the pedal's other controls, these new features are blendable with variable settings, so you don't have to decide on a hard on/off and can dial them in to whatever degree suits your sound.
Meanwhile, the T-120 Deluxe maintains all of the features from the V2 version of the pedal, while adding even more meaningful features and hardware control. The Deluxe version of the pedal features a 100% wet/dry mix, delay trails, TRS stereo out, and a second footswitch for even more control.
