Elektron Announces End of Machinedrum and Monomachine Production

The world of synthesis woke up to crushing news today: Elektron will discontinue two of its flagship products, the Machinedrum and Monomachine.

Introduced at an uncertain time for hardware as most producers were opting for software in the early 2000s, this monophonic synth/sequencer and digital drum machine found instant fanfare that continues to this day.

...all good things must come to an end. Now, fifteen years after the Machinedrum first saw the light of day, the last batch of these soon-to-be legendary machines has arrived"

Both units went through a number of iterations in their lifetime, but the core sounds continued attracting new users at a steady clip. Since their release in 2001 (Machinedrum) and 2003 (Monomachine), both machines have been championed in the electronic community by artists and producers from all walks of musical life, from The Chemical Brothers to The Postal Service and The Knife.

“...all good things must come to an end. Now, fifteen years after the Machinedrum first saw the light of day, the last batch of these soon-to-be legendary machines has arrived,” writes Elektron on their press release.

Both models will still be available for purchase through 21 June in Elektron’s webshop.
