Levin Model 52 Capri Mandolin in sunburst from circa 1951. A fantastic vintage 8-string flat-backed mandolin from the early 50s when business was booming for Levin. This Model 52 evolved out of the Model 45 Safir which was introduced in 1947. It features a spruce top, Flame Birch back and sides, full-body sunburst finish, single bindings surrounding both the top and the back, a mahogany neck with rosewood fretboard, dot inlays, metal tailpiece and 4-on-a-plate open geared tuners with cream buttons. Included is a newer, sturdy hardshell case. Condition is excellent, very clean with some minor expected signs of use and weather checking in the finish. 355mm (14") scale length, 31mm (1 1/4") nutwidth, 41mm(1 5/8") string spacing.
