This is an upgraded 2006 Standard Series Telecaster guitar featuring a full thickness body (45mm), and a fast-action ‘C’ profile neck modelled on a late '60s Telecaster.  

The neck pick up is a Dimarzio DP172 Twang King™ claimed to have unequalled response to pick attack: light playing produces a soft, quiet tone and hard picking creates a harder, louder, and more dynamic sound than any comparable single-coil.

This has been paired with a Dimarzio DP384 Chopper T™ at the bridge. Hotter than most single-coil Tele® bridge pickups, but  louder and punchier with power concentrated in the mids and low end for a bigger sound with more crunch. 

‘Bill Lawrence’ wiring follows the standard Telecaster schematic, but substitutes a 5-way Strat alpha-style pickup selector for the Tele's traditional 3-way switch, unlocking two new tones:

·Position 5: neck pickup alone

·Position 4: neck + bridge in parallel

·Position 3: bridge pickup alone

·Position 2: neck + bridge in parallel "half out of phase”

·Position 1: neck pickup alone with less low end than position 5

In position 1, the low end is lighter as the full range signal passes to ground through the pot, rather than the pot and then the cap, which is passing treble frequencies.

In position 2,  the neck pickup's signal goes through an additional capacitor, connected directly to the 5-way switch. This provides a fuller-sounding tone when compared to the standard method of wiring (which would cut more lows and mids) and provides a sound which is intended to mimic a Stratocaster's "in-between" positions (2 and 4).

The Chopper T™ Bridge Humbucker has less twang and more chunk, making for a more solid blues sound (but still flexible enough for other styles), compared to a traditional Tele bridge sound.  The original Alpha 500kΩ pots are therefore retained for volume and tone, and the 0.033uF capacitor rewired to 'Bill Lawrence' spec, all to open the top end up and brighten up the low strings as well (more traditional 250kΩ Tele controls would produce a warm sound without much high-end bite).  

A 0.01uF Axial cap has been wired across the 5-way switch to achieve the “half out of phase” tone.  

A 3PDT mini-toggle switch is added to the control plate for more tonal flexibility by changing the pickup wiring from parallel to series for more powerful fatter tones. This wiring option which can work as a kind of preset switch for a series solo sound.
