1954 Gibson Gold Top with the original hard shell case. We are delighted to offer this incredible Les Paul for sale. Mahogany body, Maple top. Typical 1954 profile Mahogany neck with a 12” radius Brazilian Rosewood fingerboard and trapezoid inlays. The guitar has been professionally re-fretted at some stage in its life, the frets are narrow style frets and are in good condition beside some light pitting. There is plenty of material for future fret dresses.
The fingerboard does show some playing wear from possibly long nails.Nickel wrap around stop tail and Kluson tulip tip tuners. All the tuners work well, however the shaft of the D and G string is slightly bent. 2 x cream cover p90 pickups on the usual 2 x Volume, 2 x Tone controls with a 3 way toggle switch. The electrics are factory, the pot we can see the date on dates 10th week of 1953. With factory fitted Grey tiger caps. Original brown back cavity plates and screws. The Jack O/P plastic plate has been replaced as it must have cracked at some stage. Original Gold speed knobs and cream scratchplate. This guitar had a Bigsby tremolo fitted at some stage and you can see the shadow as well as the holes on the strap button side. The original Bigsby bridge does come with it and it can easily be retrofitted if the wrap around is not preferred. The nut width of this Les Paul is 42.5mm. The guitar weighs 9Lb or 4Kg. Incredible player, great sounding and an amazing look. What else could you ask for? Comes with the original Brown case, the handle unfortunately has broken and we have a replacement on the way.
