This is a zither banjo made early 20th century at a guess. It was in very poor condition when I got it. I’ve just done a light restoration so far, ie dismantled head and reassembled. Vellum tightened, neck has been treated to lemon oil and frets polished. Tuners oiled and fully operational, new 5th string bone nut (pip) fitted, and restrung with Ernieball 9‘s. The action is rather high but I haven’t got round to sanding off the original one in case any new owner wants it as it is. The whole banjo has had a good polish. The case is original and currently in three pieces, but I have started to restore by using a leather re-conditioner, so it now looks like leather rather than cardboard. Unfortunately the handle is missing.
