SSL G Clone with Mid/Side and Wet/Dry Mix | GOLY MS4K

This is a mid/side or dual mono SSL G style compressor with a parallel mix knob, true bypass and an 80hz sidechain filter.

This was hand built and meticulously dialed in by myself from a kit from pcbgrinder.com, which has since closed. The designer, Gustav focused his efforts on his mastering hardware company, GOLY. They focus exclusively on mastering grade tools. This unit bears the GOLY Analog Coloring Devices logo, as the GOLY designer, Gustav designed and created the kit!

The threshold ranges were increased into the positive numbers to accommodate mastering levels, but it still has plenty of range for mixing. L and R were meticulously matched for easy recall and dual mono matching. It has a fast, round and fat and punchy tone, and it is built to last. It sounds familiar, like an SSL G.

It's quite versatile... an absolute monster on the drum bus, synth bus or vocal BG bus, and the mid side is pretty awesome for mixing stereo tracks around vocals in a nicer way than plugs can generally do. I actually sold my SSL fusion, because I could easily get the color and mid side control offered by the fusion with this box, ...and while also getting some nice compression. I actually feel the color was better-sounding than the fusion on the master bus, and the mix knobs allow it to be dialed in to taste.

The PSU is set up for 110V, but I can wire it for 220V, if needed. Please let me know if you have any more questions about this unit and/or its guts.
