Petrvs Gaggini Hungary 1940s
Bought second hand from the RTE Symphony Orchestra (kind of like the BBC Orchestra but in Ireland), Ireland, as a gift from my father 12 years ago. Unknown history beyond this. Has not been played very much due to ill health (mine, not the cello's!)
Beautiful old cello, handmade to the highest specifications. However does come with some flaws as pictured. Bought in full as I sell to you, from the RTE (Ireland's version of the BBC) Symphony Orchestra. Ebony fingerboard which has not, during my time with it, required shooting or planing. (This is likely due to it not having been played a whole lot.)
Courier can be arranged for an extra fee. Slightly lower price hoping for a quick sale. This instrument was originally a gift to me as I wanted to progress my cello-playing, however illness means that I can sadly no longer play any instrument. Hoping this goes to a great home!
Please feel free to message me for any further information you may require and I will do my best to help.
I do have an audio file of the cello being played and tested out from /09/24, which I am happy to share with you via whatsapp or email.
I have recently had the cello checked over in a specialist shop; there are clear pictures of the cracks where the adhesion has worn away which will need fixing (I was quoted £95 for the job). It is absolutely playable as it is. The specialists felt that £5-8,000 would be a reasonable ask for this particular cello but as said I'm hoping for a quick sale to a good home! They also stated that the cello plays beautifully; and that the sound will open up a lot more with regular playing.
The case that it comes with is worth £259.99 new and the bow is carbon fiber.
