Gibson SG Special Heritage Cherry 2005 Electric Guitar

Here for sale we have a Gibson SG Special in Heritage Cherry finish. Built in the USA in 2005, this guitar features a set-neck construction comprising a Mahogany body, Mahogany neck and a 22-fret Rosewood fingerboard. Vintage-Style Gibson Deluxe tuning machines are fitted on this guitar along with a Chrome Tune-O-Matic bridge and StopBar tailpiece. The pickups installed are a pair of Gibson 490R and 498T humbuckers, which are wired to a 3-way pickup selector and independent volume and tone controls.

The ‘C’ profile neck with gloss finish sits comfortably in the hand, and encourages ergonomic thumb positioning for quick and easy navigation of the neck. The Rosewood fingerboard is pleasant under the fingers, providing a smooth and durable playing surface. The 12" radius offers a nice balance between comfortable chording and practicality for lead lines. The double cutaways provide excellent access to the upper frets, whilst the medium jumbo fret wire provides stability, giving you plenty to work with when bending.

The 490R and 498T pickups sound thick and raw, with a solid output that pushes the front end of an amp nicely. The neck pickup is full and warm whilst remaining tight. The midrange is perfectly balanced and delivers plenty of power for your lead and solo tones. The bridge has a hot output and produces a biting tone which easily cuts through the mix for those rock rhythm sounds and has a great harmonic register. This guitar offers a wide selection of tones for the player to explore, with the ease of the control layout making adjusting the tone a breeze.

Aesthetic Condition:

Headstock: Overall very good condition. Light to mild scratching is consistent across all aspects of the headstock, most notably to the front face around the truss rod cover, 3rd G and 6th E machine heads. Light indentation and chipping is apparent to the sides and edges, most notably to the treble side corner. 

Neck: Overall very good condition. The rear of the neck demonstrates light scratching throughout the register. Very light indentation can be identified in places. The fingerboard demonstrates some staining between frets. None of these markings can be felt under the finger and do not negatively impact playability. 

Body: Overall good condition. A moderate chip which reveals the wood is present to the rear edge of the treble side lower bout. Light scratching, with less frequent indentation is consistent across the front face. The sides show light to mild indentation, most apparent along the bottom edge and treble side lower bout. Light to mild scratching on the rear face is consistent with buckle rash, with light marring found to the belly carve. 

Condition of Frets:

The frets show moderate signs of use, not affecting playability. Flattening of the frets is noticeable through the entire register. There is moderate material remaining for any future work the new owner may wish to perform.

Truss Rod: Fully functional. Truss rod tool (5/16" socket) not included.

Hardware: Fully functional with light signs of wear.

Structural: No concerns or issues to note.
