Rare Morrison Digital Trumpet

The instrument itself is in mint condition - ALL original items included inside case in very good condition, including a paper manual and DVD. Manual also on DVD in PDF format - Please check photo for list of original items. This has a UK style 3 pin socket that would require an adaptor for other countries.

There are a few very fine scuff marks on the outside of the case that are hardly noticeable but please check the photographs to confirm.

The original lead has been professionally strengthened with a new boot behind the instrument connector. The listing also includes a brand new instrument lead from Packman music. (This MDT Connecting Cable goes between the MDT horn and the MDT MIDI Box.)

Please watch video to see both leads in action. (But please excuse my playing) The listing does not include the sound module. I included the video to show the operation of the instrument and leads.

The Morrison Digital Trumpet or "MDT" is a new brass-style MIDI wind controller invented and

designed by Steve Marshall with the great Australian multi-instrumentalist James Morrison.

This MIDI wind controller has been designed for trumpet players to make it as easy as possible to transition from the regular trumpet. The MDT has been in development for over 5 years to create an instrument that “feels right” when you first pick it up. Your hand position will be very similar to what you’re used to, the mouthpiece is a normal trumpet mouthpiece, the valves move in the same way, and the air “resistance” is familiar.

Due to the much increased range and features that MIDI makes possible, there is a need for more controls than you find on your old trumpet. After many prototypes and much research we believe we have found the best way to incorporate these without making the MDT overly complex or “strange” to play.

Although the MDT is completely electronic, its familiar feel will enable an acoustic trumpet player to learn it quickly and start playing with the least amount of change from their trumpet skills.

Why the MDT?

  • The MDT lets you play any sound like anything you have ever wanted from acoustic instruments to electric guitars.
  • The MDT gives you 10 octaves of pitch perfect range.
  • The MDT lets you control your notes without having to "Buzz" your lips. This gives you hours more endurance.
  • The MDT can be used for alternative sounds that a musician cannot produce on their acoustic instruments. For example you can use the MDT to double on clarinet, saxaphone, guitar, or bass. An investment in a MDT wind controller pays for itself by making the musician more marketable and in-demand.
  • Transposition is a button push away.
