Fender's Stevie Ray Vaughan Stratocaster Guitar brings the unique tone of one of the all-time great guitarists into the hands of players and collectors everywhere. This 'as-new' rendition of the guitarist's legendary "Number One" Strat® faithfully reimagines the Texas bluesman's sound and style with the build and playability of a modern instrument.
"With the engraved scratchplate and gold hardware the guitar looks amazing. The feel of the neck is lovely, not too fat and is great for chord work as well as lead playing. The Texas Special pickups have a real bite without sounding too bright and will drive any valve amp beautifully."Paul Renshaw - Bonners Guitar Specialist
Stevie Ray Vaughan's tremendous talent and unique “Texas Blues” playing style make him one of the greatest guitar players of all time. Vaughan bought his original “Number One” Strat in 1974 and it quickly became his favourite, featuring on all five of his studio albums. He made several modifications to the guitar over the years all of which are faithfully reproduced in this “as-new” rendition from Fender.
The maple neck features an early `60s style “thick oval” profile that fills the hand perfectly and adds sustain thanks to its greater mass. Jumbo frets and a flat 12” radius make the pau ferro fingerboard ideally suited for big bends and controlled vibrato allowing you to really grip the strings.
Texas Special single-coil pickups are over-wound to produce huge amounts of scorching output while also retaining exceptional dynamic range for those softer moments. The “upside down” vintage style tremolo may look unorthodox, but Stevie chose it to more closely resemble the arrangement favoured by that other legendary Strat player, Jimi Hendrix.
Authentic styling includes gold-plated hardware, three-tone sunburst, and of course, the all-important initialled pickguard that boldly proclaims its lineage – SRV! You may not play like Stevie yet, but this guitar is sure to inspire you to reach for those extra Texas Blues notes and get you closer than ever before to that iconic swaggering style.
SRV famously used super heavy strings with a very high action but if, like most of us, this sounds too much like hard work we have you covered. Every guitar at Bonners undergoes a full set-up and thorough inspection prior to shipment so when you receive it everything feels great and sounds just right.
