I offer here a Haar Guitars Traditional S from 2021, a handmade Custom Stratocaster model from the Dutch noble guitar forge of Eric van de Haar with extremely resonant one-piece swamp ash body, sanded Quartersawn maple neck with "C - light V" neck profile, fine maple fingerboard with black dot position inlays, hot Bare Knuckle PAT Pending '63 Veneer Board Singlecoil SSS pickup set as well as ABM 5050V Vintage Tremolo bridge with curved steel saddles in an authentic aged 2-Tone Sunburst finish with Vintage Nickel hardware in mint condition incl. Haar soft case, certificate and professional setup with Ernie Ball 10 gauge strings.
Under the Haar Guitars label, Eric van de Haar has been hand-building custom guitars since 1987. Today, these guitars are among the most sought-after European instruments around and are played by musicians all over the world. Haar Guitars combines the best in hardware and woods with a way of building guitars that takes great care of detail, creating instruments that visually, tonally, and playing-wise rival even many an American custom store model.
And this Haar Custom Strat is no exception: it comes in a great Heavy Relic 2-Tone Sunburst finish and maple neck in the classic Stratocaster appearance par excellence and gives off that unmistakable '50s vintage vibe right off the bat. Under the thin interlocking sunburst body finish, the bold grain of the swamp ash body comes out very successfully, and together with the darkened and sanded quartersawn maple neck with maple fingerboard, it gives the impression that it was truly built in the 1950s.
Due to the selected swamp ash body, the instrument resonates audibly from the first note already acoustically incredible and at the latest when you plugged it in, you need a moment to collect yourself from the sheer load of wiry Strat sounds. This is mainly due to the British Bare Knuckle '63 Veneer Board Custom Shop pickup set of the highest class, which, in addition to a pleasant, clear acoustic tone with plenty of bite, also elicits distorted punchy, but at the same time differentiated bell-like sounds from the guitar.
A sound sample of the model (only in white version) can be found above at the end of the photo gallery.
With the factory sanded (part of the aging) medium "C" to slightly "V" shaped maple neck, the guitar is very comfortable in the hand and feels very valuable with the direct contact to the wood.
So if you're looking for a custom store level Strat (and don't want to save the instrument from your mouth), this is the one for you!
