It’s finally time to move my 2005 left-handed black Les Paul Custom on to a good home. I own a few Gibsons, but most of the work I do involves playing Strats and Teles, so this stunning guitar just isn’t getting played.

I bought the guitar new from Holiday Music in 2005.

Modifications include an incredible pair of Bare Knuckle Black Dog humbuckers (with BareKnuckle pots and capacitors), a push pull coil tap on each volume pot, Sperzel locking tuners, Graph Tech Stringsaver saddles and Schaller strap lock buttons.

The frets were recently dressed and polished by Ian Allerton at GuitarWorks.

Cosmetically, it’s evident that I’ve played the guitar a lot. I used it almost exclusively from 2005 to 2009, but have only picked it up a handful of times over the past 14 years. It really needs to be played and enjoyed by a lefty who’ll appreciate it.

There’s a fair amount of buckle rash on the back of the body. Battle scars from a belt-wearing past!

The binding on the forearm edge of the top of the body has been lightly discoloured by the red case lining (yeah, cheers, Gibson!) See photo.

Not being a fan of glossy necks, I had a luthier take to the neck lightly with some low grade wet-and-dry a few years ago (pictured). However, this can easily be reversed and polished out to restore its former shine.

I have attached a photo of some micro dings at the back of the neck that were very unhelpfully put there by a careless guitar tech in Vienna a few years ago. They’re tiny and can be buffed out by a good luthier. The biggest is no more than 1mm in diameter. This is the only ding that can be felt by the thumb while playing. Fortunately, it can't be felt by the palm.

Included in the sale is the original case, although you may not want to use it as it can discolour the guitar’s binding.

I have lived in 11 different places since buying this guitar, so I no longer have the original saddles, pickups, strap buttons or machine heads.

Please note that this is a UK only sale. I am willing to post the guitar within the UK, but due its value, I would prefer to meet the buyer at a halfway point anywhere within 100 miles of Bedford UK, or it can be can collected it in person from Bedford.

Check out the link to a video I made that demonstrates the beautiful tone of this lovely Custom. The video has been horizontally flipped as it’s a lesson and therefore easier for those normal right-handed folk to follow!
