About This Listing

Stunning EB3 style bass with gorgeously sculpted body. Increasingly rare to find, because they are being collected and kept hold of.

This example is in its original Candy Apple Red metallic finish. It’s been touched up here and there, not in a professional way, but this doesn’t really detract from its overall appearance. It was going to be refinished but instead, to retain its original look, it's been deep cleaned, polished and finished with Farecla compounds. It looks great. In terms of hardware, the tuners work perfectly. Cosmetically they are oxidised as you'd expect, with a small amount of rust pitting, more so on the E and A string side. The bridge pickup and bridge itself are in great condition (see pics). There's something really punk rock about it. You can picture Mike Watt playing it.

The circuitry is all original apart from the neck humbucker. At some point, I suspect in the 70s/80s, the original has been swapped out for a powerhouse of a Dimarzio cream humbucker which clocks in at 13.2 on the meter. This complements the original bridge pickup which itself registers a pokey 7.6 on the meter. One volume, one tone control and a three-way toggle switch means a good range of tonal variations are possible.

The short scale neck has a gorgeous fingerboard as do all these models (I have another one) with pearloid rectangular fret markers. The frets themselves are in great shape with plenty of life in them. The nut is in good condition and works in tandem with another great feature, a zero fret. The action is low and playability high. Feels really great in the hand.

Alongside the cleaning and polishing, the bass has had a thorough service and is gig/studio ready.

The price reflects the collectability, playability and overall. Offers considered but sensible ones only please.

Questions welcome as is the chance to try out the bass in its north London location.

Sorry, UK buyers only.
