Acoustic Research AR-3A Vintage Bookshelf Speaker Pair (Recapped and Reconed)

Here is a beautiful pair of Legendary Acoustic Research AR-3A Bookshelf or Floor Standing Speakers.

The outside oiled walnut is in beautiful condition overall. (there are a few minor nicks and scratches but overall the condition is excellent).

Before us, these were single owner speakers. They were looked after well and cherished by the family.

They were still functional when we received them but the woofers were starting to get scratchy, along with the pots, beyond that it was clear it could benefit from a recap (see bellow).

These speakers have been completely maintenanced by Speaker Recone Center of Colorado to the tune of $600, which is the southwests best speaker repair shop. Just to give the buyer an understanding of qualification: when we went into the shop they had three other pair of AR-3/A they were working on (so they know their S#^*). On top of that, the owner Brandon, said our pair was the nicest pair of Acoustic Research Speakers he has seen in years!

What was done:

- Full Recap

-All pots replaced

-Woofer reconed

-All drivers are original

Please note: one of the pieces of rubber on the tweeter is indented in. This does not impact function in any way and both tweeters sound identical. We wanted to keep everything we could original, but if this blemish bothers you, an AR-3A tweeter is a $50 part and can be easily replaced.

What you get:

The most beautiful sounding and looking pair of speakers you can possibly imagine. These things sound absolutely insane. We have listened to them a little in the shop and honesty we want to keep them. It will be hard to say goodbye. We have seen and heard many AR-3's and 3A's and this pair being recapped and reconed just send them into the stratosphere. You are not only buying a Ferrari, you a buying a Ferrari that has been mainteneced and tuned by the best!

Shipping:

We are willing to ship within the US and internationally, but speakers will be sent in 2 extra large double or triple wall boxes. This will make shipping costs high... yet worth it for these bad boys.

Please determine if this is something for you now, not after purchase.  We want serious buyers who know what there are buying. If you don't know what you are looking at- look it up or reach out to us. 

This item has a 30 day return but only for BRAKAGE ON ARRIVAL, and other serious unforeseen issues. This is not a rental program. Buyers will pay shipping back & for any blemishes or imperfections left on the item while in their possession, during shipping return, etc.
