Levin 315 M2 1960 Sunburst / Dearmond pickups / Top of the line

Rare top of the line Levin 315 M2. 
Model 315 was the very finest guitar in Levins production. They really put an effort in the making from design, to sound and playability. This guitar features hand carved flamed maple back and sides, and hand carved spruce top. The neck is made of mahogny with ebony fretboard. The model was offered in three different versions, without pickups, with one Dearmond pickup and with two Dearmond pickups. The two pickup version was the most expensive one. 

This particular guitar is in excellent condition for it's age and is fully original. The neck is straight and is set up with low action. The pickups sound great. I'd say they are a bit on the brighter side but with the help of the tone control they deliver a good jazz tone. Unfortunately the pickguard is missing. I do have a Levin pickguard from the same time period I could offer as a replacement. Comes with original but beat up hard case.

Levin started making guitars year 1900 and continued to make guitars until 1980. They made about 700.000 instruments and hundreds of different models, from beginner to high end models. All Levins were handcrafted with solid tops in Sweden. At their peak in the late 60's, 70% of the production went on export under the name Goya.

In 1957 Levin introduced their first line of guitars with inbuilt pickups. American Deamond pickups became the firm offering. Check these links for more information
