Handcrafted in Germany In The Early 20th Century In The Town Of Gera.
Serial number located stamped inside cabinet 31733, made in 1910s or earlier.
Due To Allied Bombing Raids Over Germany In WW2 No Records Remain.
Wilhelm Spaethe was a piano manufacturer in Gera, Germany.
It was founded in 1858 by Wilhelm Spaethe senior.
The owners Wilhelm Ernst Spaethe and Otto Paul Spaethe were awarded an imperial and royal warrant of appointment to the court of Austria-Hungary. Company stopped piano production in 1920.
The cabinet has been cleaned, hand polished to bring gorgeous wooden exterior to life. Inside cabinet there is a full metal plate, strings and mechanism with felt hammers showing embossed Wilhelm Spaethe logo, name and Austro-Hungarian Coat of Arms.
Piano has been just fully serviced, conditioned and tuned to A440 by Rob Eastwood from Eastwood Pianos.
Sounds very good with deep bass as German pianos are known for top quality sound superior to modern mass produced pieces.
